Background Actors
Background actors, sometimes referred to as "background talent," "background," or "extras," are non-speaking actors who fill out a scene in order to make the space realistic.
Barn Doors
Barn doors are metal flaps mounted on the front of a light in order to control its intensity and directionality.
Best Boy
The Best Boy is the assistant head of either the electric or grip department. They are often differentiated by the titles "Best Boy Grip" and "Best Boy Electric."
Boom Pole
A boom pole, or "boom," is a long shaft used to place a microphone near the frame of a shot. Boom poles are often made of either aluminum or carbon fiber.
